I’ve applied for the job.

I’ve got it.

My task was simple – to write a eight page guide on World of Warcraft.

My English was broken, my ability to express myself was lacking but I’ve done it. Not only this but they also paid me $50 for it. My first money ever made online.

The second job came.

The third.

In less than a year, I’ve graduated from writing short guides to creating full information products. Long before I’ve written a single word of copy, long before I’ve become a direct response copywriter, I was creating products in the fields of WoW, dating and biz op.

And this is how I started as a ghostwriter.

After about two years of doing this, I’ve specialized in sales writing. It pays better and I’m more passionate about it. But I was already creating guides and eBooks since I was in highschool.

It’s on the to-do list of most professionals as it’s no secret that a book can do wonders for your personal brand and credibility… and it’s almost never done for a lack of time or resources or enthusiasm.

So let me give you a trick to writing great books.

You can use it to write your own book or use it to understand how it’s done.

Here’s how to do it.

Information marketing is all about solving specific problems for your prospect. You don’t want to create a reference book. You don’t want to give information for information‘s sake.

So start with your marketplace’s problems.

Make a list. A very long list.

Once this is done, prioritize it and pick the top ten problems. Put them on another page. Refine them and make them clear. Make sure they’re unique and not overlapping.

Good?

Then find a solution for each problem.

Now you’ll have a problem and a solution. These will be your chapters. Each one will be a chapter of your book. Order them again in a logical order and you’re done.

But what should your chapters contain?

I like a framework called – what / why / how and what if.

Basically, I loop between these four. I start with theory, with what it is. This is the logical part. Then I move to the why. This is selling the idea. Why he should read it. How it will impact his life. Third, I write the procedure. The how to. The 1 – 2 -3.

Finally, I end up with what if, which is an exercise, a specific action you’re asking your reader to take.

You can have four sub-chapters for each main chapter, with logic, motivation, procedure and exercise. Or you can loop this for each idea. You take a concept, explain the logic behind it, sell the reader on why he needs it, show the how to and then ask him to take a specific action, an exercise.

There is more to writing a book but this is a brilliant start because it provides you with a pattern to follow while writing your book.

What about information products I’ve published?

Unfortunately, this has been over three years ago and I have nothing online anymore. However, I published several products, in the biz op niche, time management and even a how to quit smoking eBook (I was 19 when I did it!).

But do I know how to write a book?

Of course.

I’ve studied several programs and courses on how to create good information products. My favorite is Eben Pagan from which I’ve learned how to use frameworks like inner / outer game, what, why, how, what if and more.
